Welcome to vScope!

You’re just an installation away
from powerful insights about your IT

(!) Please take the time to read the installation instructions to make sure you get the most out of vScope. Don’t hesitate to contact our support if you require assistance or have further questions. (!)

Step 1 – Server preparation

To make sure that vScope runs smoothly InfraSight Labs recommends you to install it on a dedicated server in your network.

  • Server with internet connection
  • Windows OS*
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 2 CPU Cores
  • 60 GB HDD
  • Java 64-bit (the installer will point to this java download-site if not installed)

*vScope can run on Linux OS too, but the Linux-version only supports discovery of Windows systems through WinRM (not WMI) Learn More.

Step 2 – Installation

Download (Windows) and run the vScope client (check out our Download page for more options). You can either choose the express installation or the advanced. It’s important that vScope receives 4GB dedicated RAM during the installation. If your server runs dynamic RAM make sure to do the advanced installation and set RAM to vScope manually (an express installation automatically dedicates half of the total RAM to vScope).

When the installation is done it’s time to open the browser and aim it at  http://localhost

Step 3 – Setting up vScope Core

FIRST – What kind of vScope are you running?

If you are new to vScope and want to try it out, please select “Register”. This option provides a limited trial in terms of data, but you are able to work with vScope to get a feel for it.

If you are on a vScope Trial you already have a licensing & billing account and have received a trial code which you can enter under “Enter Code”. This gives you unlimited access to everything in vScope. (Please contact our support if you cannot find your license.)

SECOND – Create the first vScope user

Create the first vScope user which will be the initial administrator for the installation. Under the settings page in vScope you able to create unlimited users and connect your directory service to vScope for remote authentication of users.

THIRD – Setting up the Discovery Manager

With help of the Discovery Wizard you’ll be guided through the procedure of adding information to the vScope platform by entering credentials and targets to your resources. Please ensure that the credentials have highest possible read-permissions and that the vScope server have full access to your datacenter.

Read the full guide on how to set up the Discovery Manager, including more information about credentials, targets etc. Don’t hesitate to contact our support if you need assistance.

FINAL – Time for the first discovery!

Now everything is set up and prepared for take off, let’s start the first discovery by hitting the “Start Discovery” button! Make sure to check out our guides and videos to get started with all the features in vScope.
